A past client named Brittany left me a review this week that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about.
Her mom was in hospice. Brittany was living inside a grief that had already started, long before the actual goodbye came. In one of our sessions, I told her that after her mom passed, she’d send her butterflies🦋 and crystals 💎. At the time it didn’t land anywhere... no special meaning, no memory attached. She just tucked it away, the way you do with things that don’t make sense yet.
The night her mother died, Brittany was standing at her bedside, sobbing, when a hospice nurse walked into the room.

What struck me most…
Here’s the part I keep coming back to.
That moment only carried that weight because it had been named beforehand. Without it, she’d have just seen a kind nurse with a butterfly stickers on her nametag. Instead, in the worst moment of her life, she had a few seconds of peace.
That’s the work. Not predicting the future,
it’s reflecting what’s already moving underneath a person,
clearly enough that when it arrives,
they can actually receive it.
I think about this a lot, can things give us the power to feel held?
Can a symbol, a name, a small detail someone once said to you, become the thing that carries you through? I’ve seen it personally, with people I know, and with clients. I don’t have to fully understand why or how synchronicity happens. I know what I believe. Even if what I feel, know, and believe is different than Brittany’s beliefs and view, we both know this moment was meaningful.
